Integrative medicine
Conventional medicine does not always have much to offer a healthy person who has risk factors for certain conditions such as heart disease, diabetes or cancer; integrative medicine recognizes the fact that we can often change our genetic destiny through lifestyle and natural therapies. Other patients have developed illnesses that are improved by these techniques as well. I have a particular interest in fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, poorly-understood conditions for which conventional medicine has few therapeutic interventions. Other patients have found it helpful to work with me on problems related to thyroid, gut health, diabetes, hypertension mental health and hormone issues.
Persistent tick-borne illness
Almost everyone in Minnesota knows someone who has had Lyme or other tick-born disease—from a simple case caught early and treated effectively, to a debilitating and sometimes even fatal chronic illness. The conventional approach to a tick bite or suspected case of Lyme disease is often inadequate, with patients being told that they will not be treated unless and until the two-step lab test for Lyme is positive, or they will be treated with a single dose of doxycycline, despite evidence that this is ineffective. I am able to see patients with an acute Lyme disease question quickly and offer treatment if appropriate. I am also able to see patients who think they might have chronic Lyme disease, and treat them with alternative therapies, oral antibiotics, and intravenous antibiotics.
Newborn circumcisions
I have been performing newborn circumcisions for over 30 years. In 2003, I became a mohelet, authorized to perform Jewish ritual circumcisions. I perform ritual circumcisions for Jewish families as well as medical circumcisions for others. For more information on Jewish ritual circumcisions, please see my mohelet website at: www.gentlebris.com
The cost of a newborn medical circumcision is $400 when performed in the office, and $600 when done at your home.
